So, rather than post in the existing MW2 thread and it get lost in all the spam, i figured i'd make a new thread. So, obviously the gaming press love MW2, but for anyone sitting on the fence a little, i just figured i'd explain how I feel about the game having played it for like 20+ hours now. Briefly . It's fun. Go buy it. That's pretty much it really. Erm, ok. I'll elaborate a little. IWNet is a console beast, but iit's also working fine, with little to no lag. Obvious exceptions are when the host sucks. I've seen this like once or twice, and it takes 30 seconds to change to a different game. I really do forget its not a dedicated server cause my game experience hasn't changed much at all. There's shitloads of customisation, gun porn galore, perks, perks and more perks that are upgradable, and basically from a gameplay perspective, it's everything you loved about MW1 enhanced with the lameness (martyrdom, grenade spam) filtered out significatly. So far confirmed owners and players of this game are; Moi Lime Greebo Si Iain Terry My other mate Lee André You use your steam friends list to join/invite people to your games, but we prefer to use the party system and just join game with that, and always be insta-put into the same team (ala an xbox live party, yes). I figure if we can get 8-12 people, we can just make private games anyways and play how we wanna play. Do the EGC guys play this, Rik? Anyways, that's my opinion. They made some lame design decisions, but the bottom line is; we all agree its still fun and probably the best online fps at the moment, flaws and all.

I think Left 4 Dead 2 is going to satisfy my gaming need. I will maybe get this game when it's cheaper after Christmas.
No way am I paying over the ods for an underhand release.

Well, we had 6 people online last night; Me Lime Si Iain Terry André and we made a party. It matched us up as us 6 versus this party of 6 clan guys, [FOS] or summat. So we setup a capture the flag and gave it a go. And we absolutely stomped them. Twice. It was ace

Have heard conflicting reports about lobby, most people are saying its a disaster but they want it to fail so its hard to tell. There are a lot of reviews slating it though - and apparently there is no plans for direct PC support. It's a console game - if it works on PC great - but I don't think they are killing themselves.

The lobby was fine Tuesday till Thursday. There was a minor patch on Thursday morning and that fucked the lobby.
So no, I'd disagree with "worst lobby ever". It's fine, in it's own console way. They just need to sort the patch issue.

Well, i just finished the single player exactly like how i did MW1 - started playing, got hooked and blasted it till like 4am. Well, 3am.
Couldn't stop, it was superbly fucking epicly epic beyond epic measure.
There were some truely "hands on top of my head" moments as i watched in disbelief at what was going on on screen, some of it truely harsh and grisly.
And, well, you "play" as at least one character who dies in MW1. Well, let's just say there's a lot more of that kinda thing, and everytime it took me by surprise and caused me to shout "NOOO WTF?!" at the monitor.
Que hands on head in disbelief.
Don't want to spoil it, but it's just fucking wrong some of the shit you "watch" in first person happening to yourself.
It started off a little slow, and some of the Brazilian missions i wasn't too keen on, but just like MW1, hit the middle of the game and from that point it's a fucking rollercoaster that you'll power through.
And the Gulag and Oilrig missions. Fucking brilliant.
Even if you don't plan on buying it, get a dodgy version off the internets and play the single player. Short but incredibly sweet.
Jesus H Christ...

It also still surprises me that an American company like Infinity Ward had a Brits as the heroes in the first MW, and still keeps the main heroes as a Scotsman and an ex-Eastender.
I mean, there's the usual cringy-worthy American patriotism but, they ultimately get smaller bit parts to the awesomeness that is the Union Jack.....

Sorry Stu but your coming accross as a fanboi again - I know you like the game but when it becomes blinding I tend to get less excited about your enthusiasm.
I'll get a cracked version of MWII over Christmas and play through the solo campaign - I have 'zero' interest in trying the MP and am glad I'm not supporting the first step in a slow death for PC gaming.

I'm not blinded by the "consoley" nature of the game, i'd say i've just become resigned to it. PC Gaming is dying and i've just accepted it If i could use a mouse and keyboard with a console, i'd have jumped ship years ago. The Halcyon years are over.

He didn't say you were blinded, he said you were a MW2 fanboi. I agree. it's a good game, but it's not the second coming of Christ... Roll on Left4Dead II

I assume that stretches as far to allow me to express mine? I'm not a fanboi, IW are a bunch of twats. But unfortunately, they are a bunch of twats who made a brilliant, if short lived, single player campaign and a highly enjoyable, if gimped in a console way, multiplayer game. Also, i am finding it hard to blame them for the way the multiplayer game is. Gameplay is fantastic, you'd all agree, it's the surrounding multiplayer "shell" we have an issue with. But put it this way - when your last game shifted the majority of its units on the 360, and your predictions are the same this time round, where are you going to put your focus? All these people complaining that IW is only where it is today cause it made PC games may be true, but CoD4 shifted waaaaaay more on 360 and funnily enough, MW2 has shifted waaaaaaay more on 360 than the other formats put together and multiplied by a huge figure, the likes of which i don't dare speculate At work, we had over 300 copies on 360 for launch day. Compare that to the 60 we had for PS3, 20 for PC and 15 for Wii...

yeah. Multiplayer is good... but gimped. They've taken over half of the bloody guns away (no G36c for me) and replaced it with lame titles and emblems that I couldn't give 2 fucks about. They added killstreaks which wasn't a major coding challenge... Well, basically it's COD4 DLC rather than the RRP ~£50 brand new spangly game. As good as it is, it's even more like an Add-on than World at War was. Add the "consoliness" to it and it's a fairly losing package! I will however still be playing it, so it can't be all bad.

I wouldn't say there's "less" guns, they're just spread around more. And there's more to unlock per gun. But yeah, end of the day we're all playing it

To me, there appears to be a LOT less guns.. Every few levls in COD4 i'd geta new gun.. "MY" guns are not in this game (G36c and M60)

Every rank in Mw1 and 2 has 3 parts, so for example, Captain, Captain I, Captain II.
On the "main" rank (captain), you'd get a gun. On the second (captain I) you'd get a perk and the third (captain II) new challenges and stuff.
It's a similar setup in MW2, but the shits spread out over more levels cause there's more levels. 70 in fact, above MW1's 55.

After further research there's actually MORE weapons in MW2 than in COD4.. But it's just stuff I don't regularly use - Ie, the large shotgun collection.
