Now another SoE fave is rearing its head....SWG! it seems they have instances and all sorts in it now!

You will do exactly the same as you did with EQ2. There is no better mmo than WoW and everything else really fails in comparison. (Comparison, is afterall what you will do) As I have said before WAR is not as addictive, nor does it have the WOW factor of WoW. The reason I play it is because it is easier to just dip in and out of. Now I don't know if SWG has gone down that route, but first off you will hate the graphics. They look old, afterall, they are. The gameplay seems clunky. Just leave it alone and remember it as it was in its heyday and wait for the KOTOR mmo to arrive.

How are these cracked server, pre-cu versions doing? Like SWG: EMU and the like? Any of them managed to successfully capture that pre-cu game?
I'd try that out.

SWG set the tone for under-developed early release MMO's that continues to frustrate and infuriate gamers.
If a MMO is long into development and doesn't seem fun - release it early before any reviews, make the first few hours and overall scope look shit hot and by the time people realise it is crap u will have covered your development costs and any retards that keep playing afterwards in justification of time already spent or because they love the genre are icing on the cake.
Fuck sony, the giant bunch of cunts who produce shit everything.

But we all loved SWG, and met in it...

But we all loved SWG, and met in it... Player cities, politics and the sheer expanse are all elements of SWG that nothing has come close to equal. But the game in general was a total clusterfuck. If it came out now we wouldn't even look at it - not because it's dated, but because we expect more. Thats why wow still works and other mmo's still struggle to understand why they lose subs after month 2 and shrink rather than explode wow style. SWG actually did fairly well and it was released WAY WAY too early, probably one of the most shameless of big 'pre releases'. And it showed because the development team was never able to catch up. It was also something that existed before the masses - we had 1 server and we could really make an impact if we hit in the right places. WoW is so big that everyone becomes largely faceless. The things that made SWG good, are totally independent to that game, polish and presentation make wow sublime. I still don't think either are good enough to warrant a re-visit, but they are the very two games that if merged - would make the end of all MMO's. Can you imagine a Star Wars MMO, run by Blizzard who in advance have been instructed to take the original SWG and make it work. /wets pants.

i have said ti before....well before WoW but my next MMO is likely to be my last......if only that could be World of Star Wars as envisaged by Rob Well my last may be my next +1 as the new star wars one may get a look in and the Warhammer 40k one is certainly getting some of my time

I've said it before too but ultimately - each new MMO makes me more sceptical and I think people out there are probably feeling the same. Future MMO's are going to have to come out of the box fighting fit and playing well with good endgame and minimal game bugs for people to invest. I would think that 2008's exampels (AoC / War) will resonate with a lot of people when it comes to future purchases. Warhammer 40k could be fun, but again it's really up in the air depending on how they do it. I really don't understand why War and AoC had such terrible zone interaction - WoW's fluid zone interchanges are a million times better and simply make the game fun and playable. If I can play as a plague Dreadnaught I'll be a happy camper though If Mythic is developing the 40k MMO though I can tell you right now that I just won't buy it.
