Oh My God! It's official.
I'm watching the live E3 Microsoft confrence and they just announced Left4Dead 2, to be released in November.
Now.. As Microsoft are showing this off and NOT Valve, I can only assume it's an Xbox exclusive.
Either way.. Some details:
New survivors, heavy use of Melee weapons and looks like it's set mostly in the day time.

So, it might not be a "proper" sequel?
I mean this like - think of all the COD games, all the Far Cry games etc that were released on the consoles and not on PC.
Valve are usually very good at supporting their products - ie, they release it as a "base", and build heavily upon it in future free updates, consistently extending it's shelf life. They don't really "do" sequels-6-months-after-the-original-omg-gief-moneys-plz ala EA et al.
Both excited at the prospect of more L4D and disappointed that it might be some console only trash.

Word Up: This IS **NOT** an Xbox exclusive and it **IS** coming to PC. Trailer below: To me it looks like it's set in New Orleans. ---------------------------------------------------------------- www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=216289Apprarently it's a bigger game - with more caimpaigns than the original. The director can change weather effects, world objects and pathways. Includes melee weapons too.

More info about the game: uk.pc.ign.com/articles/988/988161p2.htmlIt seems like they're trying to rewrite parts of the game to stop LAME tactics. You can't hold up in in one corner for Crescendo events now, as they , for example, might require you to press one button, then move to another place to press another button. Also a new Special Infected called "The Charger" will stop lame asses from camping in small rooms and corners as.. you guessed it.. It can charge towards them and do massive damage! Also, the witch wonders around in daylight... There's several other Special infected new to the game, but no details on them yet

Could have sworn from the trailer that it looked like 3/4's of the team were black. Looks like just half are.
Still, thats one FUGLY black chick. Not a touch on Zoe...i wonder if there's any official forum hate about the lack of eye candy? lol

Stu... Don't judge the chick on this artwork.. You know how bad Zoey looked in the original artwork.
The forums are funny... EVERY SINGLE thread in the Official Steam L4D2 thread is complaining about the game!

Si, i saw her in the FMV too - FUGLY No Zoe hotness Anyways, the official steam L4D forums are pure HILARITY right now, jesus christ! The whine! THE WHINE! Basically, a lot of the hate is from what i said , how this is very un-valve. They release games as a "base", and then build upon that base in the long term to maintain shelf life, not release a sequel 6 months later ala EA. Someone dug up a quote from a year ago; "Valve intends to support hotly anticipated zombie survival shooter Left 4 Dead post-release with new characters, new maps, new achievements and new weapons in order to grow the community, Gabe Newell has revealed. He said: "One of the things that we're doing is we seem to be in a transition between games as a package product and games more of a service. So if you look at Team Fortress 2, one of things that's really helped grow the community is the continuous updates, where we release new maps, new character classes, new unlockables, new weapons. And we tell the stories about the characters, like the meet the sniper, or meet the sandwich. And that ongoing delivery of content really seems to grow the community.
"So each time we've released one of those for Team Fortress 2 we've seen about a 20% increase in the number of people who are playing online. And that number is really important because it determines how many community created maps there are, how many servers are running, and so on. So we'll do the same thing with Left 4 Dead where we'll have the initial release and then we'll release more movies, more characters, more weapons, unlockables, achievements, because that's the way you continue to grow a community over time."
To quote another forum thread; "Looks like we were lied to, gentlemen."Lol.

LOL;
"HEY GUYS LETS RELEASE THE SDK LATE THEN ANNOUNCE A SEQUEL SO ANYONE WORKING ON MODS BECOMES CONFUSED AND JUST DROPS THE IDEA LOLO
Christ, this move is very very unlike Valve."
------------------------------------------------------------------ "You guys are f**king customers....
I bought it 40$.
It is not little money.
It is my allowance about 3 month.
I kept save the money.
Of course it was difficult.
When i bought l4d. I was very happy.
but,Valve.
All the efforts were in vain.
After realease l4d 2.
many user will mad.
Think deeply Valve.
Your wrong desicion will hurt many peoples mind."
------------------------------------------------------ LOL x 2
WHAT ARE YOU THINKING OF ? You created one of the great games of the 2008 games, and you give up with it, ALREADY ?
I can smell a little bit rage about Killing Floor, Gabe. Why change to melee weapons, why ? To mimic Killing Floor ?
I really, REALLY, hope, it will be a huge update, not a new game.
-------------------------------------------------------- LOL x 3 "This, it really makes me regret buying l4d.
Should I skip l4d2 and wait for 3?"
"I'd wait for l4d 4 before three, three is gonna be in alaska so wait for 4 which is in japan"
"You should wait for 6, which is on the moon. Anyway the release date should be the 5th February of 2010."
-------------------------------------------------------------- "EA is rubbing off on valve it seems. Its milking season and valve is loving it. At least now we know why we never got any new campaigns or infected types like we had been promised when they took our money early on."
"This is ridiculous and completely unlike Valve at all. I've been playing their games before steam even came out. I don't know what the hell they're thinking. I'm seriously disappointed."
More like leaving the original game for dead, am I rite?HEY GUYS WE LIKE CASH.
Jesus christ, talk about jarateing away the potential of ongoing sales, has EA been sitting on too many business meetings or has the recession hit the wallet?
Weaksauce, not impressed - at all.

Lots of Drama...
Apparently the staff at Valve get to decide what projects they want to work on, and a lot of them wanted to be involved in L4D, but it was too late... So they're making this sequel now with all of the new crews ideas, along with many items frequently requested on the forums.
I think the idea is to keep the original game simple, and develop this one - To match both audiences of the game -- Casual and non-casual.

AWESOME from that poster it looks like Uncle Phil is in it, that will be sweet And those forum posts are funny. I have to admit it does sound quite good they have took on board things from the first game that were annoying and are going to do something about it. Not going to pass judgement on it will wait and see how it develops
