Hi Guys,
Not sure if there has already been a thread about this -
Has anyone tried this game? I'm thinking of including it for my up-coming Lan Session. There will be 4 of us so would fit nicely.
Any thoughts? It has a good metascore and certainly looks fun but I seem to recall that it dropped in price fairly quick.
Cheers in advance for any insights.

We all own it. It's pretty fun.
Only played co-op, not pvp. Would play it again...

I noticed borderlands is £6 on steam now, and each DLC pack is £2 each. So for the next 21 hours, you can get the game and the 3 packs for £12.
I just picked them up, since i never completed it....gonna play co-op with andre et al, if anyone wants in.

Hi Stu,
Yeah - I want in on this and I'm trying to convince some of my mates to get it too. Tried it for just under an hour last night. As a stand alone shooter I'd have my doubts but as an open plan RPG that isn't too linear it's actually quite a novelty (im sure less so for you Red Dead Redemption vets).
Anyway - I'll be online tonight if you want to get something going. I don't have TS installed - im only using vent from now on.
What voice are you guys using atm?

i have a TeamSpeak 3 server that we have all used since january Fal. the quality and ease of use surpasses vent by a factor of over 9000.
you and friends are more than welcome to use it.

I like vent - always found it better than TS.
TBH - I really can't be arsed keeping track of both - if im playing Borderlands with any of u might just use steam chat.

Have you tried teamSpeak 3 Fal?
The voice quality is amazing, the settings are much easier to set than vent (albeit, no doubt has less options available), and it uses fewer resources. Win Win Win.

agreed. if anything it will take you a minute to install and setup. i believe ian and andre felt the same but now they all use it.
TS3 makes vent look like open source lameware.
not to mention steam chat and TS/vent together is annoying because everyone on TS will hear what i say twice (once in game and once over TS).

Meh - it's frustrating going between the two but I'll see. Should be online around 7 tonight - what are people going to play?

Verdict:
Hi Gents,
I'm having fun with Borderlands - I think it offers a lot and it's a nice change to the normal FPS / RPG. You can count me in for some playing, I've gotten a Hunter to level 7 and find it fairly fun.
I have a couple of questions:
New Guns - where do you get them?
New Skills - is it 1 per level? It's just special abilities like + accuracy - is there any other points that should be attributed?
Controls - I've set mine up, any hints that you guys are aware of to make things smoother - it's a little clunky
Any other business - anything you guys didn't find out until later that you would advise me on? I'll set up gamespy so I can play online tonight.
Cheers!
Robert.

I can help. There's a whole forum webpage about disabling mouse smoothing, etc.
Will show you tonight

Just had a look and I already have a gamespy account. Maybe Bad Company 2 is on gamespy - can't remember. In anycase - I'll be online later so count me in for some fun.
Think I'm nearly level 8 - don't really know what I'm doing yet.

Yeah the opening FMV's are a pain, like being forced to watch trailers!
I managed to briefly join an online game last night - took a lot of work but got there eventually. Will be online tonight for a bit and then again from Monday. Looking forward to getting a solid run at this!

Almost level 14 now - think they need to look at weapon balance tough. I'm a Hunter - would have thought sniper rifles were the way to go but atm - Pistols seem to far outdamage rifles, and a lot of them have aiming sights so not really missing out that much.
Really hoping to get some multiplay in - let me know if you guys have anything planned.

Rob, Borderlands for an hour or so tonight? I'll try get iain/doom etc on too. We'll help you with some quests, get you closer to where we're up to. For your part, however, you need TS3 installed and updated And disable voice in game, else you get an annoying echo. It's in this guide how to do it, and more cool stuff... hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1463861I'm talking like......8ish?
