I have to say I'm surprised. I honestly thought things were going to start slowing down for them.

It has slowed down (apparently).
I read the article yesterday - The 10 million are unofficial figures... Doesn't take into account some people who left, and it doesn't take into account people with multiple accounts, and it definately doesn't take into account the chinese (and other nationalities) gold farms.
The number of actual people *playing* WOW is estimated to be much MUCH lower.

They only ever announce ACTIVE subscriptions, ie; One's that are paying.Sure it doesn't take into account people with multiple subs - thats why it says 10 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS. It doesn't matter if 5 of those accounts are owned by 1 person, it's still 5 active accounts. Now go jump off a tree and land head first, cause your "posting for the sake of trying to make WoW sound gay" is very barnett/andy, and should be left alone. Kthxbai!

I agree Barnett... Stu just hates everything that differs from his opinion.. I don't need to post how bad WOW is for people to know it sucks.. It's obvious. As for "active" accounts.. It's thought that "quite a few" people are PAYING for WOW, But not playing it... If you actually read other articles, rather than just blindly following Blizzards every word like a fanboy you would know that

It a thread to just let you know the truth behind some of the figures. Anymore nonsense and I'm gonna lock this thread. Just kidding, I don't care one bit lol. Must admit, reinstaling the game and having a bash on the free server didnt exactly grab me, even though I really kind of wanted it to. So it has now been uninstalled yet again and that is the end of that little escapade. WoW is a good game, with an amazingly good marketing team behind it, coupled together they have basically brought mmo games to the attention of the world, shit even my dad has heard of mmo's because of WoW, the same couldnt be said about EQ2!!! Anyway each to their own, if people still gain enjoyment out of a game they should play it for as long as they want and that is really the crux of the matter from my point of view. I like Football Manager games, I would imagine most of you would think I'm pretty lame to like them, but they fill a little niche for me, so I play them anyway. ;D

Agreed. I think WOW still has about a 10 year lifespan in it. And it's definately a game i'd reccommend to someone choosing an MMO.
I re-tried it twice like yourself Rik, and doing exactly the same stuff in game over and over got to me..
I want Seige warfare! I want to collect over 30 different types of metal with my guild to build a fortress, whilst collection shitloads of wood, and leveling up my crafting skills to create seige weapons... I want to play a rogue and kill people in their sleep or spy on people.. I want to fight whilst mounted on a fucking lion!!!
I want... I want... I want "Age of Conan"!!! ;D WooT

Wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll,
SWG was an awefully good game (Better than WoW by a long way) BUT, and I meana big BUT, it was still awefully repetitive, as will every NEW MMO be. Age of Conan? Will be great for 6 months until the usual "How To" guides come out to show you how to grind what you need in half the time and the cycle begins again. It is impossible to create a game with unlimited content, you just need to find one where you enjoy what's there. I'm still doing new instances in WoW, still seeing new bosses, kiilling new mobs etc...so I haven't reached that stage yet!

Same, but with horde (which obviously > alliance) - since it's kinda like the devs sat down and the lead designer said... "Right guys, we need to allocate resource now between creating and, gimme a buzz word, Jones.....yes, "Fleshing Out", the Alliance and Horde characters, quests and zones. All in favour of allocating roughly 85% of our most talented people to Horde say "aye".... Great! And to answer your question, Smith, that leaves us with the illegal Mexican border jumper janitors to "mind-map" the Alliance content, with you supervising of course. And don't forget your lunch beforce you head off to school, Jones. Meeting adjurned!"* *may be dramatised

And i'd still reccomened WOW to anyone who wanted to try a MMO game as it's the best i've tried. But I think once you've reached level cap the games starts to lost something.. And as for people playing the Hoarde side to see new things... For me that doesn't work - It's the same thing painted differently.. And WOW expansions will add a lot for the hardcore dedicated fanbase... But there's only so much they can do with that game now. Which is why i'm looking forward to a new MMO.. Build from the ground up to allow less grind and much more individual choice for leveling.

Yeah Si, I must admit, the first 40 levels or so (before some serious ganking!) were so much fun in WoW, I can still remember my first Deadmines instance...I was shitting it!! haha
