No doubt most of you have heard about this movie, dubbed "The facebook movie" -- Which is really an insult to what this film is about. I watched this last night, and it's my favourite movie of the year so far.
Directed by the guy who did Se7en & Fight club, it tells the story of Mark Zuckerberg (played by the lead guy in ZombieLand), co-founder of Facebook, and the rise of his company, the loss of friends, and the legal complications of the entire process.
It's a great character drama that includes some "court room drama" moments. The casting and acting is of superb quality, as is the writing. The soundtrack is absolutely fantastic, and fits the style and contents of the film well.
The cinematography of the film is beautiful, and the "Rowing Race" scene has the best use of tilt-shift photography I've even seen in film! Stunning!
The films available from all the usual "internet" locations, and I highly recommend it to everyone here!

*bump-shump-a-lump* told you it was good si. the dialogue, storyline and trent reznor music... Whoa! anyone who doesn't watch this movie fails at life. unlike mark zuckerberg, what this guy has achieved at the age of 26 is nothing short of incredible. go enjoy! Also: While the tilt shift scene looked nice, at first i diddnt really think it added anything to the movie. At least, that *was* the case. The tilt shift effect was done in post production! To help hide that the scene was shot in England! It's kinda cool knowing there is a reason why it was done that way and not just to make it all 'look pretty'. "Jeff Cronenweth (the cinematographer on The Social Network) has said that the tilt-shift effect was created in post, and one of the reasons they did it (other than artistic choice) is because that scene was shot in England and involved plenty of compositing to make it look like the Harvard campus, so the tilt-shift effect helped to hide the work."Source: www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?224899-Question-about-a-scene-in-The-Social-Network

Here's my view on the tilt-shift scene:
The tilt-shifting in the scene made it look dream-like and 'weird' -- My eyes were wondering around the screen trying to see everything in the frame. I thought it was to somehow show the state of mind of the twin rowers -- I.e. They were rowing, but their minds were not at the task at hand, and instead were more thinking about Facebook/ Harvard Connect.
I also thought the same about the club scene between Mark & Shaun-- The music was REALLY load and the dialogue was kinda hard to hear -- But I thought it was reflective of Mark's mental state -- He hated social situations, and in this scene his attention was drawn to everything around him rather the conversation at hand - distracted by the music/ girls/ etc.

Because in real life, Mark didn't break up with his girlfriend, and was with her for the entire duration of the story.. So, they kinda left her out of it Awesome film
