I've been playing this all week - It's officially released tomorrow. If you like RPG games, or just games with good, deep, emotional stories then you should give this a blast. I'm only 10 hours in but I'm tempted to say this is Bioware's best game ever.. A lot of PC RPG fanboys have been crying about the consolifying streamlining of the game over the original Dragon age, but I think the changes help you to become better immersed and let you get to the action and story quicker without going through tedious, boring stuff like sorting through your inventory for all your junk!

They've "Mass Effect 2'd" Dragon Age. It isn't really any simpler, per se, there's still all the hardcore stuff from DA1, but it's just hidden away, so that if you don't care, you don't need to.
Im about 2 hours in. It does seem to have grabbed me more than the original (though I am not liking rogue, might reroll warrior).
I just feel a bit vulnerable having not completed DA1...

It isn't a direct sequel like ME > ME2 You play a different character, played over a 10 year span.. Only MINOR choices from your original save game are incorporated into to DA2. So far all I've noticed is a few references in dialog options to events in the first game - Nothing major at all. I'm LOVING Rogue atm.. I'm playing as a ranged spec'd rogue though -- Damage from afar with lots of AOE abilities. My pirate friend Isabella takes care of the duel wielding.. My sister was my healer, but I got her fucking killed

I've spoilt nothing.. Trust me.. I can't go into reasons why though, else that WOULD spoil things.
My "signature" edition will be at my house today, so I'll have all the DLC legally.

Yeah, please take that honour back. My actions are from experience... <Goes back to Dragon Age: Origins release> So, when the first game came out, I pre-ordered it ages before release. About 6 days before it was due to be released, it got cracked and leaked and Simon was all over it like a rash, I could see him playing it on Xfire and was miffed (not at Si, at the fact that my legit version was like a week away). About 3 days before release, all the DLC got leaked. Simon had it all installed. Finally, on the thursday before release (about 12 hours before release) my legit copy came, which included about 3 pieces of DLC. Compare that to like the fucking 12 pieces Si had. What did I learn? Well, piracy allowed Simon to play it almost a week before me, a legit purchaser. In addition, he got a better game experience because he had way more DLC, most of which would have cost me money to buy, some which I didn't even have access to (involved buying another game perhaps, like ME2 armour etc). I am yet to buy this game, and I have a fully working version and all the DLC. And have had it all about 4 days before official release. <---- Learnt from his experience with the last Dragon Age release

The retail version of DA2 contained a time-locked DRM system -- It got leaked at the start of the week because the entire game was released in the US a week early.
I brought the game to support the developers as I did technically steal Mass Effect, MAss effect 2 and Dragon Age:Origins (Even though original Mass effect sucked IMO).
I get all Day one DLC for free with my legal pre-order purchase of the game -- It was kind of an incentive to get people to purchase rather than steal.
They also learnt a lesson with free DLC.. Most of it is shit.. It's items that you'll use for the prologue of the game, then instantly loot something better that everyone has access to anyway.
The only real DLC i'm interested in is teh "prince" one, which adds an additional companion character and side quests.
Also, you statement Stuart is a little hypocritical (is that the word i'm looking for?).. Although Battlefield 3 DLC will be multiplayer so it's not ENTIRELY comparable.. The fact is pre-orders will get day-one DLC free and everyone can go fuck themselves and pay more monies -- Exactly the same as how Dragon Age: Origins handled things -- Both published by EA, surprise surprise.

4Chan have raided Metacritic and are critically slating the review score on their.... Their LEAD WRITER wrote a message on the forum! As a grammar nazi, I've lost a little respect for Bioware :s

I've bought every previous Bioware game, i'm not saying I won't buy this, I just haven't preordered it since last time I had to sit on my hands for a week whilst you and the rest of the internet basically completed it with all DLC while I waited... Throwing in free DLC is a means to encourage pre-orders, i'm ok with it. This whole conversation wasn't about DLC for me anyway. It was about he fact that a legit consumer (me) who paid £30 had to wait an entire week for a product, whilst all the pirates played it, and played it with more content than I was getting. Lol, it was so wrong. So i learnt from that and made damn sure I didn't preorder....it's paid off thus far! #WINNING!

That's the problem with international staggered release dates!
With the internet today, if a product is released in one location it is on the internet, cracked, usually within 12 hours.
If they released this game globally at the start of the week (along with the US launch) I predict, potentially, that more Europeans would have purchased at launch.

lol... oh dear. why are 4chan slagging off dragon age 2 anyway? Because it's been "Masseffectified". Dragon Age was a ball-to-the-wall full on, complex, old-skool RPG. Bioware has cut a lot out of the sequel and streamlined the game to appeal to a wider audience -- 4chan go mental. I like both though. I think you'd like DA2 Barnett.

Yeah, they're getting better, but it's still enough time to crack and get out there before euro release. One of the most famous incidents of this was Doom 3. There was a whole TEN DAYS between North American release and Eurpoean release. It set the tone for every game since, and I can't recall a major game since that has had more than a 3 day gap between releases. Basically, in that 10 day window, the game became (at the time) the most pirated game ever, with basically the whole of europe unhappy at waiting 10 days, thus pirating it. I actually ordered it from america, and had a legit copy about 10 days before euro release xD

It's not you. It's too long and it'll detract from you actually playing Rift...lol. £5 you never see level 25 xD

haha.. I like this review snippet -- "absurd anime-like combat with teleporting rogues that makes the whole setting unbelievable" This is talking about a game set in a medieval fantasy world where mages cast magic spells, undead skeletons roam the earth and you often have to kill dragons! But hell, teleporting rogues just makes it totally unbelievable!!

*Hijack*
Currently watching Tron Legacy in 720p.
Pretty good so far, visually very impressive and the soundtrack is superb - Inception meets Mass Effect is how I would best describe the soundtrack...
