Opinions of this game please.
for me as follows:
1) Seems very consolie (not that it is a problem, just seems that way) 2) For some reason I cant play the game in any higher res than 1024x768 without it crashing, not happy but not bothered too much 3) Feels like Dark Messiah a bit,but more polished and smooth 4) Not been scary yet, but i'm not far into it at all so presume it will get there 5) Does the variety of monsters increase.
Now this is just a first impression, but for a game that was rated 96% and 10/10 from many sights, I'm a little underwhelmed at the moment!
Its good don't get me wrong, its just that it is kind of like when Stalker came out, it wasnt the big next fps for me.
Thoughts?

Victim of its own hype so far, i am underwhelmed by it. Now, before greebo si logs on and goes "omfg wtf you on about best game EVAR!!11" or something to that effect, let me explain... Bioshock is a great game. I do not dispute that, however, once again the developers, publishers and games media have over-hyped it, it's been made out to be so much, and as a result it has fallen short. But you see, i only perceive it as having "fallen short" because the hype and claims made about it have set the standard so high. Someone like greebo si, who probably hasnt been following its progress for 2 years like i have, will not have these preconceptions that i had, thus, it will not have "fallen short" for someone in his position, because he wasnt exposed to all the hype and claims made about this game over the years. It's a better position to be in, to be honest, you rate the game as you find it, not against all the claims and hype that has surrounded it. Does that make sense? All in all, it is a great game, i'm enjoying it a great deal. But its not the game that was promised and described in the media. Stalker, incidentally, is and isnt a good comparison. It is a good comparison in that, yeah, the hype surrounding the game killed it - it could never live up to the hype. But it's not a good comparison at the same time because, stalker wasnt that great a game (at least not until you got into it a lot) whereas bioshock is a great game. Does that make sense? Also, i liked Dark Messiah a lot, cool story. And greebo si, nothing personal, just had to use somebody as an example to make sense of my position

I think it's one of the better games i've played. 1. It has been ported from console - But consoley stuff has been taken away (IE, Not auto aim, etc).. And you can make it harder for yourself by turning off the quest navigation arrows (unlike the console version). 2. No problems playing in the highest res, with max settings for me - Game only locked up once - But I think that was down to the graphics driver. 3. I think it has a unique feeling and look - Love it. 4. It does scare me to be honest - Having the volume up high, you hear the stragest of sounds and it keeps making me turn around to make sure no one is attacking me from behind. 5. BIG DADDIES ROCK! They get harder, and meaner weapons! - The locations of later levels also make fighting much harder - Not to mention more turret defenses etc (Love the mini hacking game) 6. I personally think the game is good due to it's story and surrounding... After reading the articles/ posters and listening to the audio diaries I just don't know what to believe... Is Atlas really trying to help you? I just don't know - But I wanna find out. You been harvesting or saving the little sisters?! I've harvested everyone i've seen so far

To Stu: You're correct in thinking I haven't followed this game for 2 years - But i've known about it for about 12 months or so - Reading up on it, watching videos, etc. I thought it looked so/so, until I saw recent videos with it's HUGE combination of traditional weapons and weird freaky shit
