Say no more. Me, Lime, Grif, Iain, Terry, Kris, Mike, Lorcan; Battlefield 2 is still the best game we've ever played online together. Those were the days, man. I have insanely high hopes for Battlefield 3. DICE did an awesome job with Bad Company 2, but that's their console franchise that they just gave us on PC too cause they hadn't released anything on PC for ages. This is the real shit, right here. www.ea.com/battlefield3Confirmed that PC players get 64 player maps, just like back in BF2 days, jets are back, prone is in (i'm ok with this so long as they somehow combat dolphin diving. Easiest way is making you unable to shoot whilst dropping to prone). I've also seen mention of a map called "Back to Karband" - remake of Strike at Karkand? Best map evar!!1onee I'm expecting it to be set in the same kind of time period as BF2, modern warfare (the teaser shows that much), and hopefully will be as detailed, in-depth and fucking awesome as BF2 was, but with Bad Company 2's modern niceties in gameplay mechanics. @stu I won't say "meh" to it.. But i'm 100% not interested I'm not sold on yet another modern warefare based FPS.. and the 64 player maps hold no appeal to me.. I much prefer lower cap games, where you get to kill the same few people and over - Makes it feel more personal. Generally didn't like battlefield2 when I tried it online, but found it to be okay when playing via LAN with just a few people -- But we know that Battlefield is NOT designed to be played that way. === Do not read below if you have blind faith in DICE, and not learnt from other cross-platform developments === This is pure speculation here: But I'm willing to bet that console multiplayer will be set to 32 players max (if that) and 64 for PC, but will be played on the same maps, without any sort of optimisation for player count -- This will lead to much smaller maps than you'd see in BF2. So the 24 player version will be smaller than the 64 player version...

Awesome info win; uk.pc.gamespy.com/pc/battlefield-3/1148162p1.html"Some of the highlights Kertz posted include: Yes, there will be spotting.
Dolphin Diving is out. Period.
Vehicle/Infantry balance is a focus for me, it will be awesome this time.
No plans for ziplines or grapple hooks no.
Yes, prone is on all platforms.
BF3 will be deeper than BF2. That said we've paid a lot of attention to keeping depth while pacing the learning curve.
BF3 is the sequel to BF2. It's not BC3.
Friendly Fire will be an option, yes.
No comment on commander.
Yes, there is bullet drop. Doesn't work the same as BC2 though, it's a much deeper system.
No, no tracer darts. That's a bit too BC and not enough BF.
No, I won't confirm any vehicles from the teaser.
One of the cities is Tehran... Yes, yes there will be sand. Further details about Battlefield 3 have also been revealed by retailers now offering the game for pre-order. Most notably, Gamestop states that urban combat will be a big part of the game:
"Take the fight to iconic and unexpected places in the USA, Middle East, and Europe including claustrophobic streets, metropolitan downtowns, and open, vehicle-friendly landscapes as you fight your way through the war of tomorrow."

@stu, did you watch the frostbite engine video also? looks pretty impressive Yeah, i watched it. I didn't link it cause, to be honest, it's a bit sedate. But it looks really impressive. I love the destructible stuff in Bad Company 2, and they're selling this new Frostbite 2 engine as being massively more destructible than that, and that it's the engine that will finally "do justice" to their vision for BF3. Just imagine the New York map, some sniper douche in a skyscraper window. You spot the sniper, Jet flies in launching missles....<BOOM> blows a huge chunk out of the building, taking the sniper with it

I didn't know when you sent a mass text, it forwarded on all phone numbers - Like Carbon Copy in Email -- I classify that as a security flaw! Technically everyone you text with that message has potential access to my phone number!
