They need to lower unit cost and up population cap. Either that or have req points give more - as it stands, it's just too slow moving.

3 squads and a dreadnaught is lame.

Hey. The "Saving Private Ryan" squad consisted of about 7 or 8 men.. no whineage occured. Quit whining, or stop playing Anyway, playing tactfully with a few squads is far better strategy than sitting in your base churning out a huge force, then just pushuing forwards... lame. Anyway.. Rik doesn't like "arguments" on the forum, so I have nothing more to say on the matter.

Hey. The "Saving Private Ryan" squad consisted of about 7 or 8 men.. no whineage occured. Quit whining, or stop playing Yeah and if that was made into a game it would be called Call of Duty. I'm sorry - but I held 3/4 of a map yesterday and it still was taking a long amount of time before I had enough req for a squad. Granted - when there is a lot of combat u can get drop squads, but I think they need to ramp it up a bit or it's going to be too slow. Even squad sizes are crap - can you upgrade from the 3 - 4 space marines you even get? Yeah - 1 sergent, but anything beyond this? As it stands - I can see it as a fun tacticle multi team v multi team affair. That said - It's not going to keep anyones interest if they don't ramp up the action factor and make it more fun. I've pre -ordered but am going to look into ways to cancel this tonight as after 4 - 5 skirmishes last night all I can say is "BOOOOORRRRRIIIIINNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG"

It's not an argument, it's a discussion.
And the more i play it, the more frustrated i get, for a lot of the reasons rob mentioned.
It's only a beta, it could change, but i think it's too far down the development line to change radically. Not gonna pre-order, gonna wait till you guys have it and see if it's more fun, squads are bigger, or the pop cap has been increased, or squads require less pop cap to build.

Anyone fancy trying to get a party togethor tonight and getting some matchmaking games going?
It's much better against real people

Yeah - I'll be online, I guess if you go in as a team of 3 / 4 it could be better so count me in for that. It's obvious that they are trying to dilute the scope of play for each individual so that you operate more as a team.
I think this is fine - but I don't think it is gonig to work unless there is more diversity for each wing. if you play as offence / heal / defence you should have alternative troup options - and it should really follow these lines, otherwise it seems wasteful.
For the record - I like Space Marines Tech Marine Commander most so far.

Yeah.. When I played online, we had 2 marines players and one ork.
I also prefer the tech marines.. I setup defensive turrent and defended the victory points whilst the other two pushed forwards.. It definately aimed at team play with each being able to take a different role (specified by commander unit).
I'm intreaged to try the Tyranids "tunnelling" abilities.. Not seen them in action yet.

The tunnelling is a bit crap, purely because its not very long range. It may get you directly behind an enemies cover, but it seemed a bit underpowered for the commanders main function.

I had visions of him tunnelling halfway across the map.. Although that could be overpowered.. it'd be an inst-teleport whenever he's in trouble. Still, using it when in trouble at the right time could be good... Am I right in thinking there's an ability which allows him to create tunnels for other tyranids to use.. To move quicker through the map?

He makes a tunnel where he's stood, then you get an area circle where you can place the exit. It's no further in range than the area circle you get to use commanders offensive specials. Thus kinda useless.

It's the equivalent of a backpack except underground.
I'm not sure but can't you build portals all over the place to shoo marines around?
Working with 3 other players this could be away to maneuver and dominate...

The techmarines builds "teleporter relays".. But that only re-inforces trops ( ie, teleport them from the reserves to the front lines).. Still it's effective to get troops to the front lines fast! IWhilst assulat marines now how vary limited range , they do knock back troops when they land.. I find this great is the enemy is surpressing my troops... Jetpack in, knock them down.. Whilst they're setting up, devour them!
