www.gametrailers.com/video/prelude-to-mass-effect/49313So, i remember when Mass Effect 1 was released, i made a thread on here about how awesome it was, one of the best single player games i ever played, production values through the roof, epic story that hooked me and never let up. Well, the sequel is in the works and its gonna be even more epic. The most interesting feature to be revealed is how, you can load up your Mass Effect 1 save game within Mass Effect 2, and this will determine how your new Mass Effect 2 game is gonna play out, as regards what main characters are around and how the story begins and pans out. Now, for example, i had a major character die half way through my game, to much "WTFing". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Characters_of_Mass_Effect#Urdnot_WrexWrex was totally badass! he was a permanent member of my team, i always took him out with me. So when i found myself in a no-win situation with him, and he subsequently died, i just thought "FFS, that sucks...". Speaking to Iain and André about how far i'd got so far, i said "just after where Wrex dies". "wtf? Wrex doesnt die" !!!! He never died for those 2. They had him until the end. They will have him in the sequel. If i preload my save game, Wrex will be absent for the entire game. They will speak of him in the past tense. My game will start completely different to theirs and will pan out completely different. How awesome is that?! ;D On a similar note, cause our endings were different, and lots of other choices would have been different, the possibilities for our games to be anything remotely similar are looking slim. On a side note, i may well play through the game again and try to keep him alive. And no "OMG CONSOLE" bashing, Mass Effect 1's out on PC and 2 is confirmed for PC aswell.

i must admit, thats a pretty cool feature. but if he died and you were like
"omgodz, why he go? :`( "
why diddnt you just load up a previous save point?
for the record, i know nothing about this game. maybe its time to find out more and grab me a copy...

When I learnt that he didn't have to die, i couldnt just reload a previous save for a couple of reasons... 1) I didn't know what choice(s) i had made had led me to that critical point. Literally, choices i had been making for the entire game potentially led me there - i was halfway! i didn't wanna start again! 2) It turns out the "no-win" situation i found myself in could have been avoided at that time had i had a high enough "intimidation" skill, i could have talked down the situation. Or so i'm told, anyways. 3) It was kinda cool that i was gonna see a different perspective to the game than the other guys. 4) Incidentally, remember all the furore around this game cause it contained sex? You could bang the human bird or even the blue skinned alien chick and get alien side-boob....i didn't get any sex in my game. I didn't try to, but my point is, the experience is clearly very personal and follows the choices you make very closely. It's cheap now, barnett. Grab it, it's a fantastic experience (i played it through on the 360). I'm gonna play it through again and try to keep him alive shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/advanced_search.asp?keyword=mass+effect&prodcode=&min_price=&max_price=&platform=ALL&x=0&y=0

I tried it - got bored half way through.
Very generic, linear crap you would expect from a console. Seems big - but everything is the same after the first 2 hours.

This is an expansion - not a new game.
Notice you never see the UI? Is this because they have some new inovative interaction - or because it is identicle to the original?
Won't be getting this game, first one was a weaker RPG than Diablo and a weaker shooter than Deus ex and though it merged both these genres I'll wait for something that does it better and is designed to be played on PC instead of on an xbox.
/meh from this corner.

whole ui and combat style has been revamped and reworked, oh ye of little faith. And the sheer hours this game will take to conclude hardly warrants the tag "expansion"

How you getting on in mass effect 1, barnett? Everyone can leave their mass effect hate at the door. The general gaming world considered it superb, and I guarantee the sequel will be universally hailed aswell. And that I'll jizz while playing it's awesomness

Don't hate it - but don't really think its great either. If you are a console player, its probably one of the best rpgs that have come along in a good while, I personnaly - found it boring and repetitive with the rpg *element* running short on progression very early in the game.
All the templated non story planet missions were retarded. First one was cool - then it became clear you were just doing the same thing over and over.
