new L4D2 Zombie information! Left 4 Dead 2 isn't exactly like Left 4 Dead 1. It's set during the day, for starters. Oh, and it has new zombies. And new items to help you kill those zombies. One of the new zombies is the "Spitter", who sits back and lobs spit at you. This spit inflicts damage around the point where it lands, sort of like a mortar. Only, made from zombie spit. As you can imagine, its purpose is to split you up, as a well-placed lob into the middle of a group will force you all to scatter, leaving you vulnerable to the zombies. Another is an all-new type of zombie: the "common-uncommons", as Valve call them. These are specific to each level, with an example being the "mud men", fast, crawling zombies in the Swamp level that sound a lot like the fast zombies from Half-Life 2. To help you in your fight this time around, two items - the pills and first aid kits are gone, replaced with ammo packs and adrenaline. Adrenaline works kind of like the old beserk power did in Doom; it stops groups of zombies from slowing you down, and you can go melee crazy, making the most of the sequel's new hand-to-hand weaponry. kotaku.com/5319162/left-4-dead-2-has-new-zombies-new-items

So how the fuck do you heal?
Or is that the point? You can't?

So how the fuck do you heal? Or is that the point? You can't? i was thinking the same thing, more realistic i guess. you would need to reset your health after each level though surely.

But watching the newly released videos, they have medkits and shit. I think, it's a choice of medkit OR ammo kit, and pills OR adrenaline. Can't carry em all, just like explosives.

You can still pick up medkits, but you can also pick up ammo packs instead..
Kind of like how you can only pick up a pipe bomb or molotov.
So, you get the same amount of inventory slots, but must choose what to pill it with.

Just watched the latest game footage from Comic Con. www.gametrailers.com/video/sdcc-09-left-4-dead/53209So, i am really looking forward to this game, it's probably more anticipated for me than MW2, since we still play L4D1 multiplayer now on an almost daily basis, and enjoy it. Looks like they are attempting to fix all the major issues with L4D1; - A lot more guns. - Spitter and Charger are designed specifically to force a group of survivors out of a lame corner, by either charging in and knocking them over, sending them flying, or in the case of the spitter, lobbing some toxic shit onto the floor that hurts like hell, forcing everyone to flee. Good to see also that the charger has an "incapacitation" ability, like a hunter pounce or smoker tongue, so can still take a player out the game. - Level design doesn't lend itself to "move between lame corners". An example is the swamp campaign/bayou cabin levels. Your in an open swamp - there are no corners to be lame in and camp! Even the wood shacks are destructible in you camp in one. Couple of worries from the vids though - The charger seems to go down in one fucking melee hit (from a frying pan, no less), it may have been a fluke head shot, but on a 360 pad? Melee weapons in general are either gonna be a really nice addition, allowing a team to specify roles, and broaden their tactics.....or it's going to completely break versus. Only time will tell. Watch the vid, it's very good.

It's a lot of fun. And number 2 just seems to be adding great stuff, and offering solutions to lame ass corner camping.

"new special infected, the Jockey. The Jockey's a right pain in the neck, appearing out of nowhere and hopping onto one of the survivors' backs. He or she then loses control of movement, allowing the Jockey to steer the pair into dangerous territory, where other infected can pile on the damage. I can imagine in a boomer swarm or during a tank battle/ finale, a jocky jumping on one of the players and running half a mile away where other infected can do damage does sound good.
Be interesting to know where the Jockey actually does any damage over time or if he is PURELY a "support class".
