"I heard the French version of L4D2 comes with an option to surrender..." I heard you're slightly addicted and can't focus on anything else other than this demo. Lies, i've had a very prodcutive day. Sat here in my PJ's wrapped in the quilt (got a cold), made a few phone calls, played some games. Productive!

You can pick up a modifier to add a laser sight that not only lets you see where everyone is aiming – which is really helpful – but also helps your accuracy a bit...
We’ve introduced the idea of the defibrillator. You can bring people back from the dead.
you’re not getting yelled at to go stand in a corner. Moving, fighting and killing is the best way to play it.

Unless it's the 25mW IR laser and NVG combo it can all just fuck off! =)

It's now 3:20am, have been playing the L4D2 demo solid for about 2 hours. Pros and cons... Pros- Me (joke) - Gore. The new gore system is fantastic. Blood sprays everywhere, you can shoot chunks of torso off, i have shot people in the head, its sliced off the top of their head revealing their brains! I've also hit zombies in the stomach area, and it's left their entrails along the floor! - Weapons. Lots of them, and they all "feel" pretty meaty. Not used melee weapons much, to be honest they don't appeal. I'm a gun porn kinda guy. - New SI are cool. The AI is better at trying to play them "like a person", ie - tanks don't stand there beating on 1 incapped guy so much, but the new SI won't shine until versus. Chargers seem to go down easily, but do a LOT of damage. Spitter AOE acid does shitloads of damage! Not had much jockey action, bar having one run one of our team into fire and getting them killed... - Speaking of fire, the new fire looks cool The graphics overall are very nice. - The 2 levels we're shown are good, multiple pathways are interesting. - Defib is cool, but kinda OP. Think it needs a nerf, like, gets them up with a bit less health, maybe 25 rather than 50? - New "gauntlet" style crescendo is fun. - Shotguns got a massive nerf. You hold waaaay less ammo, the spread is much tighter and the range is much shorter. They're still effective at close-quarters, as they should be, but aren't imba like before. Cons- I really don't like this "close-up" point-of-view of your character holding the guns. I know it's only cosmetic, but it's kinda gay. The pistols look squashed and it looks like you're holding the uzi up by your right ear, ffs. In older gameplay vids, you can see the perspective was just like in L4D1, but recently they changed this. There's some unhappiness about it on the forums, people saying its consoley etc... - Why can't you look down and see your body anymore?! - Adrenaline. Don't really see the point, made me a bit faster, but zombies were still slowing me down, kinda prefer having pills. - Can't think of much else. None of these cons are game-breaking. Haven't tried a boomer bile bomb yet, or really seen any pathing changes by the AI director. I believe there's some issue with multi-core processors, more specifically dual core rather than quad core. Speculation is that this was part of the reason for the delay. People are reporting sporadic stuttering fps, and general low fps, with multicores. Haven't had any probs with my quad core, silky smooth. Oh, and right click your demo, properties, "verify integrity of game cache". There's reports of some missing files, i did it and it downloaded a small amount of data. Obviously off to Yorkshire now until saturday. Will be on saturday night/sunday to whore the demo a bit with you lot. EDIT: It's now 4:38am and i just finished an expert campaign with a few randoms oh, and make sure you press "use" on the jukebox...

I also just played a few games... My thoughts... Bugs - Oh dear oh dear.. Lots of minor bugs.. Most common being dissappearing cross hairs - Simply change weapon to get them back. Difficulty - Advanced is TOO easy for my skill level.. Expert is a challenge.. I hope Versus lies somwhere between. Melee weapons are cool - Everything goes down in one hit (except common infected wearing armour) Rochele is a bitch - I picked up a medkit out of sight of the others and she shouts "No medkit here, nothing to see". Servers - Dedicated servers are actually available - Not had any problems joining via random lobbies. Gore - As Stuart said the gore system is intense.. Shoot them in the stomach and you can see there insides, including stomach, intestines etc.. and sometime those things fall out and drag along the floor. Adrenaline is ok.. Maybe i'm not using it to it's full potential.. Just seems to make you slightly faster and you lose melee fatigue. Boomer bile is cool (although the bomb model I think is sucky).. Throw it at an infected and it seems all other infected attack it (as if it'd been covered by boomer bile). FUCKING WITCH - The witch wonders about and sometimes doesn't even cry - I have to admit I shot her and disturbed her once when firing into a crowd of zombies that she was mingling with.. You just don't expect to her be walking around! No camera freemode - When you die you have to view the game through a survivors eyes Sniper/ ranged equipment seem to be more useful - As like with Crash Course the levels seems to alternate between tight spaces and wide open.

You are weak, Stuart. You'll never survive zombieholocaust if you let a mere cold hinder your excercise! Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame!

Is that because it's a collection of maps in a game and not a flammable liquid?

No, it's probably because it's streets, buildings and a mall which isn't a million miles away from l4d1's urban environments. It'll be stuff like dark carnival, hard rain and swamp fever which will stand out...

I myself think i'll prefer urban environment (classic B-movie zombie setting) to the outlands.. However, the reviews I've read did say it was the weakest for a number of points 1> As you say, it closely mirrors L4D1 settings 2> Dialogue between the survivors is rather static as they don't know each other at this point and don't refer to the infected by their proper names. Every review i've read (about 6) have given it 9 or above though.

Dead centre is pretty uninspired. I'd even go so far as to say it was "dull". I'm ready tonight to try the others though
