Like Stu said, Hunting jedi was the best gaming i've ever experienced, and that one late night we spent in the Genocian cave was the most epic encounter i've ever had sitting infront of a computer screen It was just the most brilliant gaming experience. For the love of god, why did they ruin it? SOE! GOD DAMN YOUS! GOD DAMN YOUS TO HELL!!!11

Probably not going to get the Beta. I'll most likely do one of the following:
1. Buy the game based on reviews on release. 2. Buy the game when reviews indicate that the game is actually playable (about 4 months after release) 3. Try the demo 4. Read the hilarious reviews about how the game was released around 6 months early, about how content originally meant to be out of the box is now scheduled for the second expansion pack and how AOC are excited about what that will bring to the game (two years late), about how the lag on servers is so bad that the new combat system allows players to crouch jump into invisibility and auto decapitate at will, and how a certain spec of one class is unbeatable in pvp and how the developers think this is working fine, and the fact that it's the character they all play has jack to do with it.
Was that a rant?

Video didn't inspire.
Looks a lot more point and click than anticipated.
*meh*

I'm sorry, but the amount of fanboy over-enthusiasm for this game is superb, in a clichéd way ;D I've seen a lot of Pre-MMO launch hype, going back fuckin years, and a lot of it has always been undeserved in the end. I hope this game is good, but i'm just staying on the "meh" lines for now, that way i won't be disappointed The video looks ok - however, real time combat? - super MEH, didn't work in the "revamped" SWG, didn't really like it in Tabula Rasa, not sure if i'll like it here. Twitch gameply is too susceptible to lag, hence why 98% of MMO's generally take the "semi-turn based" affair, which at least keeps some semblance of fairness. I'll try it, if it's good, i'll buy it. Killing other guilds sounds fun, etc etc. Can't say i'm loving the concept of real time combat, but at least it looks dark and kinda grown up.

Well, got me a fileplanet beta key now - not gonna download that stupid 12.5gig, will just come round someone's house and grab a copy. Also: I shall now, based on a lot of people's fanboy-ism, affectionately know this game as "Hype of Conan" lol.

Rik. For us non-geeky people.. What does that mean? Its not about being geeky, it's about being Old School, being fucking badass and having played the best MMO ever: Star Wars Galaxies. So, KDS were the quintessential Imperial guild; Big, Cumbersome, Steamrolling, massive. Several hundred active members. They were our allies in the Galactic Civil War. They had one of the biggest player-cities and they were good at what they did. Very strict requirements to join the guild, and it was ran in a very military-esque way. Their members were highly regarded and respected (for the most part) throughout the galaxy. To be fighting alongside a KDS member was a good thing. rDe were the polar opposite. One of the most well known Rebel guilds, they were a small guild of skilled PvP'ers who had to use guerilla tactics to hit weakly defended imperial cities and bases, and hoped to get the base down before KDS and the other Imperials arrived (as if they didn't, they'd get steamrolled into the floor in 2 seconds by the big, cumbersome Imperial army). They had some massive twats in the guild, but you couldn't deny they were skilled at PvP.

Skilled at pvp?
Skilled at exploiting elements of the game which were poorly designed.
Some of them were pretty good, but they all ran the same builds gear and tactics and none of them were anywhere near original.
AoC looks promising, but like Stu i'm going to cynically wait the late play test / early release.

Some of them, you have to admit, were very good at PvP. And yes. The rest were leet kids (this is regarding rDe)
