The sign up for the Age of Conan is open if anyone is interested. Looks like the fighting system is interesting, depending on how they implement it. Link: beta.ageofconan.com/beta_application/

I know some of u guys will say "Yeah.. nothing special", or "Jesus si.. You're slow.. We did that in Galaxies for years"... But frankly those guys are dicks! For the rest, i'm quite interested in the following statement regarding Conan: "Eventually, you'll probably want to form or join a guild of other players. There are various reasons to join a guild, but a key one is the ability to build cities. There are two forms of cities in the game: crafting villages and battle keeps. Each guild can build and own a single crafting village, which is basically a center for commerce and social interaction. To create one, simply build a central keep on the designated node, and this will open up additional build nodes that radiate out from it, where you can build different types of structures. Each building requires a different amount and type of resource, which is derived from crafting. You'll need at least 30 members in your guild to create a city; you can basically have an unlimited number of people in a guild." Source: uk.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/ageofconanhyborianadventures/news.html?sid=6185031&tag=topslot;title;1Some very interesting stuff in there. I especially like seige warcraft and the fact it's gona away from the traditional MMO "Killx number of y creatures", and added much more class orientated quests... Dare I say it... This MMO looks really good!

Are you signed up for the beta? Yes the graphics look very nice. It will be an 18 certificate game, which may or may not get rid of the leet kiddies that inhabit WoW unfortunately. You guessed it SWG did this years ago, but no one seems to have really tried it since so it will definately be a welcome addition to the genre if done well. Many of the player built cities in SWG were ghost towns after all. The game does have some promising features but my one reservation would be that you may find the majority of people that are into the whole CONAN thing might actually wish to, shhh, 'ROLEPLAY'. Now I sill still give a good look, but the first person that comes up to me in game and says anything remotely like 'Foresooth, yonder dragon I see' will get a swift rebuttle and I will leave the game forever. I cant even be arsed reading or listening to the text in single player RPG's let alone have some beardy twat want to ramble on to me telling me how my roleplaying is bad because I don't know everything about my birthplace and goat god that shagged my mother. Anyway got a bit side tracked there. Continue

I'll signup for the beta tonight... I t's good that it's going to be a mature game.. I'm doubing the high level of RPGers will be in there from what I read on forums (Maybe they'll get their own server). The more I read it, the better it sounds than WAR, which reads like wow 2.0 My only reservation is the fact it seems to be promoting large guild sizes (larger than we have anyway).. Although u can quest a lot on your own in game... To build keeps etc you need at least 30 members.. so some really cool stuff is gonna be locked out unless we get a decent guild going. Sounds great though to me Also, regarding WAR... I hear they temporarily stopped the beta process due to a huge amount of problems - Not sure what these were though.

I heard WAR had gotten a case of "the gheys". But since Conan is getting such a large fanboy base here, I might check it out.

"Jesus si.. You're slow.. We did that in Galaxies for years" Damn, had already mentioned this in another thread, but yeah, I'll say it here again... Still waiting for a new idea in an MMO as SWG had pretty much everything (except it was run by SOE )

Still waiting for a new idea in an MMO as SWG had pretty much everything (except it was run by SOE ) Bioware, the masters of the RPG, are making an unannounced MMO. They are also working on an unannounced title with LucasArts. Obviously the rumour-mill is working overtime to suggest Bioware are working on a Star Wars MMO. There are 2 rumours re: the timeline setting. The first is that it's basically Knights of the Old Republic 3. I don't really buy into this one. The KotOR games are superb, but i don't feel it would work as an MMO. The "4000 years before the movie" setting would at least give them some creative freedom, but your average star wars fan only wants to know the film timelines The second is that it's set after film number 6, so would be in keeping with the movie time lines, but still allow some creative freedom. My money would be more on this one. Instantly recogniseable areas, characters, and even the political climate.

Hmmm.. I can't really comment as i've done no research but does another time based mmo really make sense? How many times can I kill lesser spotted dargils for a negligable amount of xp just so that I can change the pixels surrounding my toons weak looking frame.
Meh,
If it is combat based and doesn't require stupid amounts of time (which I just don't have) then it might be on the cards.

Fear not Fal.. The entire reason I started to hate wow were the reasons u mentioned in your post. Admitingly, Conan might be more of the same.. But from what i've read it's quite different - A nice selection of class based quests and seige warfare should hanlde that

Has anyone gotten beta keys for this yet? Was watching some of the new trailers and my misses got interested so now both of us have applied for them.
I'm willing to give this game a chance as long as there really is a huge reduction in grinding. Anymore info is appreciated!
